Guest Speaking
Julie Schanke Lyford
Julie LOVES visiting schools to read Katy Has Two Grampas, during the visits she also shows fun behind the scenes videos on how the book came to life. There is always time to answer questions, and get students excited about the creative process of writing. Julie has experience talking to everyone from individual classes, the entire school and large conference rooms full of librarians.
Julie empowers audiences to share THEIR stories with her “Storytelling as Activism: The Importance of Sharing YOUR Story” presentation. Julie was trained by Minnesota United For All Families to deliver her family’s story to help pass the Freedom to Marry Act, and traveled across the state speaking to ALL types of crowds. A lifelong activist, Julie couples her degrees in theater and communications with her passion for public speaking to stand up for the rights of others.
